Here is the next shot. I have access to a milling machine where I work. I couldn't show this step because we are not allowed to bring cameras into work, but I milled it down to 9/16" on the Headstock. It worked way better than everything I have read about using Rasps, Band Saws, and Dado heads. I had zero Chip out. After sanding the finish thickness will be around 1/2" on the headstock.
