Personal Information -  Greg is no longer the “grandpa” of the band! Doug is married with four children
ie…his lovely wife, Jacqui and their kids Lindsey age 23, Kurtis 18, Jason 13 and Kateline 11. They are
currently living in Manchester, IA where he is teaching music and vocals as well as playing music on the
weekends.
Doug was born and raised in Greeley IA where he started taking guitar lessons at the age of nine from
Keeney Studios in Manchester, IA. He’s played with local bands such as the original Golden Haze,
which hosted his brother Bill and Sister Dixie. He graduated from Hawkeye Tech as an electronic
technician and began traveling the Midwest with full-time bands. After living in Detroit as well as
Marquette MI and Dallas TX, he settled in Orlando FL. There, he spent the next twenty-five years
working as a professional musician for Church Street Station in the Cheyenne Saloon & Opera House.
There he played pedal steel, fiddle, banjo and vocals. Doug also played for Disney World in the Magic
Kingdom and in Epcot for 11 years. As an added bonus he had the opportunity to play Orange Blossom
Special with Charlie Daniels at Disney World’s 15th Annual Celebration
Doug spent two-years in Nashville, TN touring with George Ducas who had a hit called,
“Lipstick Promises” on the Capitol/Liberty Label. This gave him the opportunity to be on stage with
many big groups including: George Strait, George Jones, Toby Keith, Alan Jackson, Vince Gill, Alabama,
Hank Jr, Diamond Rio, The Mavericks, Kenny Chesney and dozens of others as their opening act.
Some other professional stage acts he’s played in include: Lonestar, Brian White, John
Michael Montgomery, David Frizzell, Jack Greene, Ronnie Stoneman, Hager Twins, Hank Thompson, Lee
Greenwood, George Hamilton IV as well as many others.
Some other highlights of Doug’s career have been winning the Colgate/GMC country
showcase in 1991, (which is a national battle of the bands). Willie Nelson and Steve Warner handed his
band (Cheyenne Stampede) a check for $50,000 dollars and keys to a new truck, on the stage of the
Grand Ole Opry. Doug performed twice for President Bush Sr. He also performed on several TV shows
including Good Morning America, Crook & Chase, TNN’s live at Church Street, and the Grand Ole Opry.
Doug was a featured performer at the “1994 International Steel Guitar Convention”. One
musician of only thirty in the world asked to perform that year.

Influences -  Buddy Emmons, Mark O’Conner, and ALL of the great musicians he has worked with over
the years.

Hobbies -   He enjoys pickin with his brother Bill, biking and playing golf.

Equipment -  100-year old German Stad copy violin. (someday he’ll be able to get a new one!) Stereo
Steel preamp and Lexicon effects.

Pet Peeves -   People who say, it’s not my fault or have complaints with no suggested solution to
follow.

Favorite Part of BHB’s - Being able to live back in the Midwest with his family and still being able to
play with World Class Musicians. Also, having his son Jason play fiddle with him from time to time.

Special Thanks -  I would like to thank the band for letting me live out my newest dream. Also, I would
like to thank all the fans who come see us perform. Seeing all of you have a good time is the reward for
all we do. Just remember, as Buck Owens says, “
It’s people like you that make people like us.
