Personal Information - Charlie Chapman was born in Manchester, IA on April 5th 1979. His dad and his dad's
twin brother developed a band before Charlie was born called "The Western Kings". They are still playing
today. Charlie started playing guitar when he was eleven, with influences of his father. At the age of
thirteen, Charlie started playing lead guitar as well as being lead singer in his dad's band. Chad's (BHB's
fiddle player) dad(Denny) also played in The Western Kings. Charlie and Chad grew up listening to their
dad's playing music, which inspired them to be musicians and also became good friends. Before joining the
Back Home Boys, Charlie played with several different area bands and musicians. Most of his career playing
music he was lead guitar, but now Charlie is playing bass.
After high school, Charlie attended North East Iowa Community College where he majored in Industrial
Electricity. After finishing college, he got a job at Meyer Mechanical Contracting and Service Company in
Dyersville, IA. He has been there since 2000. Now residing in Earlville, Iowa, Charlie is engaged to
Jeanette and they are planning a marriage in June 2006.
Influences - His DAD, Brad Paisley, Keith Urban, Buck Owens, and Conway Twitty.
Hobbies - Charlie enjoys playing basketball, playing music, and hanging out with friends.
Equipment - Charlie uses a Lakeland Skyline 55-02 5 string bass, a shure SLX wireless system, and Shure
PSM 400 in-ear monitor with E5 drivers. He plays direct so he doesn't need an amp.
(when he played lead, he used an 2003 Fender American Standard Tele-caster with a Line 6 Flextone 2 Amp.
He also plays an '83 American CBS make Stratocster.)
Pet Peeves - When some old person uses the phrase "In this day and age". Drives him nuts.
What he likes most about playing with the BHB's - "It's sooo much fun playing with these guys. We have a
lot of fun. Playing with them is never boring. These guys are the most talented group of musicians I've
ever played with. I've very thankful that they allowed me to be part of the band. Besides being great
players, they are great friends. I hope I can someday celebrate playing 10 years with them."
